Oceanside

She sat on the rocks in front of her house, comfortably, despite the rough and uneven texture. The cool breeze drifting lazily off the ocean waves combated the heat of the sun, tousling her hair and filling her ears with the many stories carried by the wind. "I Am Hydrogen" by Phish wandered through the open windows of the house, mixing with the sounds of her brother making dinner. The calming sounds of the crashing ocean waves blended with the seagulls' cries and the distant sounds of beach town behind her. The best part of this for her, however, was how all of these noises formed to create the lullaby she used to fall asleep to. She missed those days with an ache so strong it would sometimes fill her up completely until she felt nothing but the heavy weight of loss.
